The Treeline, Colorado Rocky Mountains

Clouds blow through the Rocky Mountains Mount Goliath Natural Area, in Colorado, at dawn. The tree line is in the foreground. Above this area, the only trees capable of surviving the harsh sub alpine conditions are the Rocky Mountains bristlecone pines (pinus aristata), a near-threatened species of pine that lives up to more than 2,000 years.

OK, this isn’t a photo of Mexico. But in this one instance, I think we can let this slide.
